How Our Our Story Began…

DesignX Studios began as a vision rooted in a lifelong passion for building, design, and the artistry of creation. Founded by Chad Briand, DesignX is the culmination of over two decades of hands-on experience and a journey that started in Chad’s childhood. Growing up in Mississauga, Ontario, Chad was naturally drawn to understanding how things worked. From the time he was six, he would take apart his toys, trace floor plans collected from model homes, and dream up new designs for houses, constantly reimagining the world around him. This curiosity became a calling, guiding him toward a life dedicated to mastering and innovating within the building industry.

As Chad’s career unfolded, he immersed himself in every facet of construction, gaining a diverse range of skills from demolition, framing, and excavation to landscaping and project management. Each experience was a layer added to his expertise, and every role taught him a new aspect of building—both in the structures he was creating and in the relationships he was forging along the way. Eventually, his career brought him to the high-end custom home industry, where he began managing and constructing multi-million dollar residences across Ontario. Here, Chad’s work with BONE Structure Homes became a defining chapter. These homes, framed with heavy-gauge galvanized steel, were more than just buildings—they were the embodiment of modern engineering, designed for strength, durability, and exceptional energy efficiency. This innovative approach deepened Chad’s understanding of construction and pushed him to explore new, sustainable building materials like steel and ICF (Insulated Concrete Forms), opening his mind to the potential of future-forward, environmentally conscious home-building.

Building on this experience, Chad established ConstructionX Inc., a consulting and management company specializing in custom home projects. Through ConstructionX, he brought his philosophy of craftsmanship, integrity, and innovation to the forefront, creating homes that balanced functionality with striking aesthetics. However, while he thrived in the management space, Chad felt the pull to return to his creative roots, reconnecting with the design side of his expertise. He realized that by having a hand in both the design and build processes, he could ensure that each project maintained the integrity and vision of his original concepts—resulting in an even higher standard of quality and client satisfaction.

Thus, DesignX Studios was born as an extension of his vision: a design-build firm where architecture, interior, and landscape design are brought together under one roof, creating a cohesive approach to the entire project journey. At DesignX, Chad didn’t just want to be another firm handing over designs for someone else to build; he wanted to transform how the industry viewed the role of designers and architects. By integrating the design team into every stage of construction, DesignX brings a level of continuity and dedication rarely seen in the industry. Our designers and architects work as project managers, overseeing each phase to ensure that the vision created on paper is fully realized on-site, down to the smallest details. Chad’s background in interior design grew organically as he collaborated with talented designers over the years, refining his eye for materials, finishes, and layouts that shape a home’s character. Likewise, his years in landscaping added depth to his understanding of exterior design, where he learned to design irrigation systems, retaining walls, water features, and gardens that complement the home’s structure and surroundings. Together, these disciplines enable DesignX to deliver complete environments where every aspect—from the architecture to the interiors and landscapes—is thoughtfully crafted to align with each client’s vision and lifestyle.
